Project latest: see the Intellectual property rights whorl for a wealth of resources on teaching intellectual property

The need for increased entrepreneurship within higher education has been well recognised, however in order to be able to participate in many enterprise related activities students need skills in working with intellectual property and the associated legal aspects.

Using the example of the engineering syllabus this project, co-funded and co-managed by the Engineering Subject Centre, aimed to develop resources identifying integrating intellectual property as a significant strand of enterprise education. At the same time it aimed to develop a model for the delivery of other areas of law to non-lawyers, as well as for a pedagogy facilitating the inclusion of non-core key topics into the syllabus.

The chief outcome of the project is the Intellectual property rights: a key legal topic for engineers whorl, a website including a wealth of resources on topics such as How to design IPR content and Examples of good practice, plus a review of IPR websites students have found particularly interesting and easy to use.
